About Us

About GridLens

GridLens is a UK renewable energy grid intelligence platform built for solar, wind, and battery storage developers. We aggregate real-time connection queue data from the National Energy System Operator and all six UK Distribution Network Operators, and transform it into actionable intelligence — so developers can make faster, better-informed decisions about where and when to connect.

The problem we solve

The UK grid connection queue contains 283GW of renewable energy projects. Following the December 2025 NESO reform, the process became more opaque, not less. Developers are spending weeks manually cross-referencing public datasets, paying consultants £500–1,500 per day for analysis that should take minutes, and making site decisions on data they know is incomplete.

GridLens changes that. We refresh our data every Tuesday and Friday when NESO publishes updates. We flag broken dates the moment they appear. We score every substation for connection risk so developers can screen 50 sites in the time it used to take for one.

What GridLens is

GridLens is a data intelligence tool. We present public grid connection data in a structured, searchable, and scored format. We do not provide legal advice, investment advice, or planning consultancy. We are a data platform that complements your professional advisers — giving them a structured foundation to work from.

Who we built this for

GridLens is designed for development managers, development directors, and investment analysts working at solar, wind, and BESS developers, independent power producers, and infrastructure funds operating in the UK renewable energy sector.

Our data commitment

We update NESO transmission data every Tuesday and Friday
We update DNO distribution data monthly as operators publish
We log every connection date change — the only longitudinal broken dates database in the UK
We publish our full methodology so users and their advisers can validate our approach
We cite every data source on every output
